Welcome to my rooftop garden.

Hello, welcome to my first blog. I'm very excited about introducing you to my garden.

When we first moved in it was devoid of anything living. We spent last year turning it into our own little Eden, growing everything from potatoes to primroses. Being on the first floor and south-facing it’s a real sun-trap, and we can get lettuce growing within a couple of days, without the risk of any pests (though a few have inevitably made their way up).

So life’s pretty good up on the roof; my biggest trial is persuading Rich to bring up just one more bag of compost.

  1. The best way to prevent pests from coming into your roof garden is to build a greenhouse. It basically protects your plants from unwanted elements, but it lets in the light your plants need to grow. The roof of your greenhouse would be the structure’s key element. You may choose among twin/triple wall panels, polyethylene film, and glass/fiberglass reinforced panels. Good luck!

  2. It looks like everything was going well for you. Also, I think you have green thumb that’s why you were able to grow plants in your rooftop garden. I’ve been trying to start one in our rooftop but I just don’t have it in me to grow plants.

  3. I can just imagine how dreary this place was before. You have to give credit to the flowers and plants. They really made the surroundings lively and colorful! This is why I made a mini-garden on my rooftop as well. It’s really nice to make use of the space and turn it into something wonderful! :')
